Hey All, it's a nice relaxing night of not working.  I'm actually volunteering ambulance alot this weekend, so that ain't cool.

Anyway I worked Friday, 12pm-12am.   Alot of the day shift called out, so I ended up working in Expresscare.  Which is fine, but I was with the real slow PA.  It was pretty slow.   The main ER wasnt too busy either.  Then it started to pick up and they started giving us non-express patients.  Peds dumped on us an 18 year old with vaginal discharge and being sick for weeks.  Not right, not an Express patient.   She was sleeping around and probably had bacterial vaginosis.   You gotta be careful out there, STD's are so rampant.  But everyone was pretty normal.  I got a hug and someone wanted to give me a $5 tip since I was so good.

I didn't get a break so I worked under Protest.  I'm gonna start filling out the union forms and working under Protest when I don't get breaks.  It's not fair.  They tried to give us an Adult Protective Services case.  Then we had this psycho 37 year old girl there with her mother.  The mother accidently stuck a ear dropper into the girl's ear and it was bleeding.  They waited for hours and then the girl said she was gonna sue us for unethical behavior.  The mother was like I was so mad, that's why I did it.  I'm not sure if I did it on purpose or not.  My daughter probably says I did.  You guys have to drug her up.  I was like WTF.  lol.   They were truly psych!  I got out on time, the only thing I care about these days lol.

On Saturday I worked 12pm-12am also.  There was quite a bit of staff.  So after relieving triage and then some other people I went on the Cardiac side.  We each had only TWO patients!!!!!   I could not believe it.  I took the Trauma room and I had two really nice patients all day.  We also went on divert.  When I was out in Triage about 12:20 there was a loud boom, apparently a fuse went out across the street and we were on generator power.  The CT Scanner, MRI, and Xrays all went down.  We can't take care of patients then.  So we went on Full Divert.  Which is always a cool thing.   lol.   Also the $15,000 Plasma TV in the waiting room broke.  After the power came back on, we had a fire in the 6th Floor, so we stayed on Divert til that was cleared up.

At 7PM the ER was practically empty and the waiting room was also empty.  So I went out to Triage.  Of course, it got really really busy, and the ER was full in no-time.  I swear that's my luck.

Working Tuesday, until then, take care, peace out.

Hey all, so I'm back to work and all, exciting!  I forgot to mention since it's nursing related, i started my BSN program at the University of Phoenix last week.  It is going well.

So I worked yesterday Noon-Midnight.  Had my classic Burn/Desk/OBGYN room.  I had a new traveler nurse with me for the day, which I like cause we can do everything as a team.  He was a good nurse too.

I was also put in charge for 1.5 hours which I kinda hated cause it was my first day back and all.  So I had my own patients, this new guy and I had to worry about the entire ER.  Come on, I hadn't worked for 18 days.  Oh well.

It was actually a pretty slow day.  We were busy and all but nothing crazy at all.  And when I left at 12 I had all my patients cleared out, something I like doing.

We had a trauma come in, some guy fell 20 feet off a roof.  He had head injuries and pneumothroax (air in the space with the lungs so the lungs can't inflate properly).  All things considering he was pretty lucky.  Had a vaginal bleed later on that night.  19 year old pregnant girl.  I can't believe people getting pregnant at such a young age.  The boyfriend was there.  The future "mother in law" also.  Come one 19.  GEEEEZ.  I would wait to 30!!

Also has a prisoner.  This guy was in big trouble with credit card fraud and stuff.  This 19 year old kid.  He ran from the cops and all, and they had to pull him out of the hudson river.  They ended up using a Tazor (spelling I dunno) on him and he has the spike stuck in his rear-end.  The electrode that shoots out of the gun.  It's like a fish hook, so Dr. Rymond had to make a small incision to get it out.  Very interesting.  The kid is also homeless and has been in alot of trouble with the police.  Gotta blame the parents...... or in this case probably lack of parenting.   I really worry about the youth of the future.  Peace out all.  I'm going to the shore tomorrow.  Work on Friday and Saturday....

Well it's August 30th.  I just have been on vacation for 17-days.  Tomorrow I go back to work, Noon-Midnight.   I have started my BSN program and I feel great (no more headaches).  So more excitement from the Emergency Room to come....

Hey so I've actually been sick with a horrible headache.  I had it for 6-days straight.  So I missed work a bit.

I did work today 12PM-7PM, they were really short so I came in extra.  Pretty routine day, not too bad.

Working 11AM-11PM tomorrow.  Then I am off for 16-days straight.

I know they have proven it's not true.  But this is the end of a full-moon weekend.  I don't care and I don't believe statistics.   Full-moon weekends are insane.
